My grandfather’s dreams were simple: A decent life, an
honest occupation, and a loving family. Simple dreams defined
this extraordinary man. Courage and stamina fueled his journey
from Napoli, Italy to America. After having come through Ellis
Island, he worked any job and embraced every challenge.
Eventually he opened his own barbershop, building a business and
beginning the family of which he had always dreamed. In the end,
he raised our family with dignity. He led a rich life — a
life of honest pride. If it wasn’t for my grandfather,
Eugenio, I never would have been able to live out my dreams
today.
