My family’s story is one of true romance according to Nana,
my grandmother. A turn-of-the century courtship began in Italy,
but was cut short when their families each left for America. The
families arrived separately and unknowingly, both settled only a
few miles apart in Beacon, NY. However, their love was renewed
when they serendipitously met again, over thirty years later at a
local supermarket. It was then that my grandparents truly began
their life in the new world. I carry this fond story in my heart
as a lesson of love that America has given to my family.
