My great-grandfather, Alessandro, came from Italy through Ellis
Island. He moved to Massachusetts and worked in a number of
trades to support his growing American family. His passion for
freedom was perhaps best embodied by his love of carrier pigeons,
a hobby he pursued his entire life. His carrier pigeons became
part of the American military’s intelligence efforts during
World War I. His soaring inspiration lives on in my heart and
further guides my life today.
