Joe Montana was a hero of mine as a child growing up and once again he has demonstrated the characteristics that made him such a great roll model. The day he retired was the day I stopped watching football, because the man has more heart and integrity then any other player in the NFL. The world needs more men like him.
I also found his segment personally touching, because he has roots in Sicily, much like myself. In recent years I have made an effort to track my roots through Ellis Island's records, because many of my family members passed away before I was old enough to really question where I came from and it has been an invaluable resource in my research. Thanks to the records that have been kept my future children will know where they came from, but I find it embarrassing that our country would let part of our history deteriorate like that. It should be preserved in its entirety for future generations to see.
